National Youth Advocate Program - Ohio

NYAP in Ohio has served children and families in Ohio since 1978. In keeping with our philosophy of maintaining strong local support for our foster parents and team members, the Ohio program is administered through seven regional office locations:

  • Columbus (Central Ohio)
  • Newark (Eastern Ohio)
  • Cincinnati (Southwestern Ohio)
  • Dayton (Western Ohio)
  • Maumee (Northwestern Ohio)
  • Cleveland (Greater Cleveland Area)
  • Tallmadge (Greater Akron/Northeast Ohio)

Under the leadership of our State Director, Shawn Holt, , these seven offices serve as a base for regional services which include a turn-key Care Management Program, an array of Therapeutic Foster Care options, a Shelter Care Program in Franklin County, community based services including PASS and CANEI programs.

NYAP also provides a toll free service reception line staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (1-877-NYAP-CAN) to provide timely referral and placement opportunities for our referral sources as well as assistance and support to foster parents and other stakeholders.

NYAP works cooperatively with contract sources and our referral partners to develop customer focused and fiscally responsible solutions to the needs of children, youth, and families in the communities in which we operate.
The cornerstones to our successful services with children and families are our caring and
committed foster parents and the dedicated NYAP team members who support them.

NYAP Foster Parents
Our foster parents have opened their homes to provide a safe and secure environment to children in their own community who are currently unable to live with their biological family.

Foster parents often find themselves working with biological families in a mentoring or other supportive manner to strengthen the family and allow the child to return home.

In cases where children are unable to return to their biological parents, some foster parents have utilized NYAP’s services to adopt their foster child.
