Contributions
Contributions received from donors are gratefully used to help NYAP achieve our mission. You can help by making a financial or other donation today.  100% of all donations to our agency go directly to the children that we serve; administrative costs are paid out of the agency budget. This means that if for every dollar you give, that full dollar directly benefits a child.  We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt public charity by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service  (IRS).  Your donation to NYAP is tax deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS.

We will put your donation to work immediately.  You can chose to sponsor a specific child, designate for what your contribution will be used toward, or make a general donation to benefit the cause.

The following information gives you details of some of the programs funded through generous donations and sponsors.  All of these programs are beneficial to the children that we serve and are fully funded by generous donors such as you. Please consider making a donation to help our special children.

A few of our funded programs are:

Precious Cargo
This program allows us to have a new duffel bag to give to each child that comes into our care. The bags are filled with basic hygiene items, school supplies, a blanket and a stuffed animal. The bags are prepared based on three age group categories: birth to two years old; three to eleven years old; twelve years old and up.

Artistic and Cultural Expression (ACE) Program
This program allows our children to participate in a variety of arts therapy programs. Children often find it hard to verbalize the trauma that has befallen them. However, through a variety of art forums they may be able to work out some of the issues that haunt them. Our children have been able to participate in dance, music lessons, painting and drama through this program.

Summer Recreational Activities and Summer Camp
Our children have participated in a wide range of activities through this popular program. Some have taken swimming lessons, horseback riding lessons, played on baseball teams and attended various day camps. This program is designed to keep our children active during the summer months as well as help them work on social skills and participate in  recreational activities that might interest them for the rest of their lives.

Operation Santa Claus
Christmas is a very special time of the year around the South Carolina Youth Advocate Program. We can't help but get a smile on our faces when we think about the children’s excitement as the holidays approach. Each SCYAP region has a  holiday party every year bringing together the foster parents and foster children. This is the one time of the year when they are all together for fellowship and fun. We like to make sure that each child has at least one item off his or her wish list. Although we prefer to provide more than one gift if possible, we like for them to have at least one item they have asked for specifically. Donations help make this program possible each year.

New Clothing
Many of our children come to us with nothing but the clothing on their backs. This program allows us to provide a change of clothing, pajamas, shoes and a jacket or sweater to a child in need. Dressing with pride and dignity is important for our children to help them feel confident as they go into their new home, school and community.

Tutoring
This program allows us to hire outside tutors or purchase educational resource materials to children who need them. Our children all have some type of emotional or behavioral issues and sometimes they have difficulty in school, especially if they have changed schools several times. They may become behind in their school work and need individualized attention such is that provided by a tutor.
