National Youth Advocate Program - West Virginia

NYAP in West Virginia has served children and families in West Virginia since 1980. In keeping with our philosophy of maintaining strong local support for our foster parents and team members, the West Virginia program is administered through five regional office locations:

  • Charleston
  • Fairmont
  • Martinsburg
  • Parkersburg
  • Wheeling

Under the leadership of the WV State Program Director, Patti Lewis, these five offices serve as a base for regional services which include an array of therapeutic foster care options and home based services for children ages 0-18 and their families.

Centralized Service Reception, 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a Week
NYAP also provides a toll free central service reception line staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support, answer questions and provide timely referral and placement to our referral partners and also NYAP foster parents.

NYAP works cooperatively with contract sources and referral agencies to develop youth and family focused and fiscally responsible solutions to the needs of children, youth and families in the communities we serve.

Our NYAP Foster Parents
The cornerstones to our successful services with children and families are our caring and committed foster parents and the dedicated NYAP team members who support them. Our foster parents have opened their homes to provide a safe and secure environment to children in their own community who are currently unable to live with their biological family.

Foster parents often find themselves working with biological parent(s) and families in a mentoring or other supportive manner to strengthen the family and allow the child to return home. In cases where children are unable to return to their biological parents, some foster parents have selected to adopt their foster child.
